Student Q&A: Alicia Zeng values diversity, found it in the Global Business Journalism program

Meet Alicia Zeng, a first-year master's student in the Global Business Journalism program at Tsinghua University. A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, she attended Georgetown University, where she double-majored in management and operation and information management, with a minor in music.

Alicia says her journalism role models are reporters who risk their lives "to tell us the important things that are going on in the world." She's looking for information "that captivates an audience – that really connects with my readers."

Why did she choose Global Business Journalism? "Diversity," she answered, adding that she already has made friends all over the world. "Diversity is such an important value of mine."

Her inspiration? Her dad, who immigrated from China three decades ago and became a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She says she deeply appreciates "the hardships he has been through"

and "how much our parents sacrificed for us when they immigrated to another nation."

This video interview was conducted and produced by Global Business Journalism reporter Katarina Sai of Ukraine.
