Required documents
The Global Business Journalism program is a partnership between Tsinghua University, the International Center for Journalists and Bloomberg News. It is the premier English language business journalism master's program in Asia, and it has attracted students from more than 70 nations since its creation in 2007.
Please upload all the documents listed below to the application system:
1) Personal statement.
Master's degree program applicants should submit a Personal Statement. Doctoral degree program applicants should submit both a Personal Statement and a brief introduction of their research experience or research plan. (The Personal Statement should be filled out in accordance with the requirements of university template). Click here for template
2) Degree certificate.
Master's degree program applicants should submit their bachelor's degree certificate. Applicants who will not graduate before the application deadline shall provide the expected graduation certificate first, and the degree diploma must be submitted before registration.
GBJ applicants who have graduated are required to provide a verification of the degree diploma certificate at the same time. The verification certificate and the original diploma certificate should be combined into one PDF file and uploaded to the application system. The verification process can be applied through the university after applicants have already received their bachelor's degree. 3) Academic transcript.
Master's degree program applicants should submit the academic transcript of their undergraduate study. Applicants who will not graduate before the application deadline shall provide their current academic transcript. In this case, the completed academic transcript must be submitted before registration.
4) For non-English-speaking students, please provide English level certificates. eg TOEFL, IELTS, etc.
Applicants who complete their undergraduate or master's studies in English must provide a certificate issued by the university they graduated from. After obtaining the permission of the GBJ Office, they can be exempted from submitting the English level certificate.
5) Academic recommendation letters.
Two academic recommendation letters from scholars who hold the title of associate professor or higher, or senior professionals in a related academic field, are required. Please follow the instructions on the online system for submission of online recommendation letters or upload the recommendation letters signed by references.
6) Passport personal information page (personal and ordinary passport).
According to Article 3 of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, any individual who was a Chinese national and then acquired a foreign nationality shall provide a Certificate of Cancellation of Chinese Household registration issued by the police station where the original household registration is located.

Q: What advice do you have for submitting the personal statement?
A: The personal statement should be at least 500 words and has no maximum length. It should be written clearly and concisely, displaying your mastery of English. The personal statement should let us know more about you, your background, your motivation for joining the Global Business Program and how Global Business Journalism will help you achieve your goals in life. If possible, please discuss your journalism and/or business background and tell us what you will bring to a diverse, dynamic program.
