Scholarships

The Global Business Journalism program is a partnership between Tsinghua University, the International Center for Journalists and Bloomberg News. It is the premier English language business journalism master's program in Asia, and it has attracted students from more than 70 nations since its creation in 2007.

You may apply for these scholarships

Outstanding prospective full-time international graduate students at Tsinghua University are eligible to apply for the following scholarships:

 

Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS)

 

The Full CGS usually covers tuition, stipend, on-campus accommodation (or accommodation subsidy), and medical insurance. The Partial CGS includes one or a few items in the Full CGS. Annual Review is strictly required for all CGS holders.

The number of candidates can be recommended by Tsinghua University (Type B) is very limited and application through Tsinghua University is highly competitive. Tsinghua University selects candidates from pre-admitted applicants of remarkable merit.

The CGS application procedure through Tsinghua University is as below:

Step 1: Get pre-admitted. A pre-admission letter will be sent to the admitted candidates after the admissions interview and test rounds.

Step 2: Qualified candidates will be notified by the GBJ office for CGS application.

Step 3: Complete CGS Online Application on the CSC website when informed by your school/department (usually in late March or April)

Step 4: The University selects CGS candidates and nominates to the CSC

Step 5: The CSC makes the final decision

Please note: Before applying for scholarships through Tsinghua University, you have to complete your application for the GBJ program first. Tsinghua University only selects scholarship candidates from pre-admitted students. Since the deadline is very early (usually in February), applicants are strongly advised to apply to the Global Business Journalism program by Jan. 31.

 

Tuition Scholarship

 

For example, the Beijing Government Scholarship for International Students, covers full or partial tuition fee with a duration of one academic year. Applicants may apply for Tuition Scholarships annually (competitive).

Step 1: Get pre-admitted. A pre-admission letter will be sent to the admitted candidates after the admissions interview and test rounds.

Step 2: Qualified candidates will be notified by the GBJ office for CGS application.

Step 3: Submit application materials as required by the GBJ office (usually in late March or April)

Step 4: The University makes the final decision

FAQs

Q: Are there any other agencies for the Chinese Government Scholarship application?

A: Yes. Candidates can apply for the CGS scholarship through embassies or other institutions(Type A), it is recommended that candidates apply before the Tsinghua online application process. For further details, please consult relevant authorities (eg local Chinese embassies) in advance .

 

Q: I have been offered scholarships from other institutions (for example, a company, the embassy, ​​the government of my country, etc.). Do I need to notify Tsinghua?

A: Yes. Please answer to the scholarship questions in the Tsinghua Application System for Graduate Admissions and specify the full name, contents, duration and founder of the scholarship.

 

Q: May I apply for multiple scholarships through Tsinghua University at the same time?

A: Yes. Qualified applicants may apply for multiple scholarships at the same time, but scholarships cannot be combined with others.
