Covering the economic implications of coronavirus: A global webinar from GBJ co-director Rick Dunham

Updated: May 9, 2021

The global COVID-19 outbreak has made every journalist a health reporter. But it's made almost everybody a business reporter, too.

At a time when many people are concerned about their livelihoods, Rick Dunham, co-director of the prestigious Global Business Journalism program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, is scheduled to hold a global webinar on Friday, May 1 at 9 a.m. EDT in Washington, 9 p.m. in China. The topic: Covering the Economic Implications of the COVID-19 Pandemic for a Local Audience.

Professor Dunham will discuss possible business and economic story ideas with a special emphasis on the local angle. He will offer guidance on what trends to monitor, where to find information, and more.

The masterclass also will include "best practices" examples from around the world. If you know of any best practices examples that you think should be included, please email a link or a PDF of the stories to Professor Dunham at GBJprogram@gmail.com.

The event is co-sponsored by the Global Business Journalism program, the International Center for Journalists, the International Journalists' Network (IJNet) and the Global Health Crisis Reporting Forum. Registration is free and open to all Global Business Journalists students, alumni, faculty and friends.
