Global Business Journalism students and alumni celebrate the Year of the Tiger

Updated: Sep 26, 2022

Global Business Journalism students and alumni around the world have a message for you: Happy New Year!

GBJ co-director Rick Dunham celebrated the Year of the Tiger with home-made jiaozi.

GBJers are celebrating the Year of the TIger with family and friends. A few international students remain on campus, joined by Chinese classmates who were advised by authorities to avoid travel during the Spring Festival due to coronavirus concerns. Hundreds of alumni around the world – from Cape Town to Perth to New York – celebrated in their homes, at gatherings with friends, or with fellow graduates.

Classes will resume on Feb. 21. Most international students are still attending classes by Zoom or Tencent Meeting, while Chinese students and eight international students are attending classes on campus.

"Let's hope that the Year of the Tiger is the year when all of our students and faculty can reunite on campus," said GBJ co-director Rick Dunham. "We hope to have everyone at Tsinghua to celebrate our program's 15th anniversary later in 2022."
