Today, I stand before you as the dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, filled with immense pride and excitement as we celebrate this momentous occasion. It is a testament to the remarkable achievments of our institution and the Global Journalism progarm within it.
I am delighted to share that the School of Journalism and Communication, with its unwavering commitment to excellence, has secured its place among the finest in the world. In the QS ranking by subject this year, our institution stands tall at an impressive 38th position around the world and ranks first in Mainland China, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our faculty, staff and students.
The Global Journalism program, with its nurturing of over 500 students from 71 countries, has produced graduates who are active players in the international media scene. These exceptional individuals possess a profound awareness of China's economic and social development and serve as vital bridges between China and the world.
Through their journalistic endeavors, they break barriers, foster understanding and provide nuanced insights that transcend stereotypes. Their role as ambassadors of journalism, diplomacy and cultural exchange is crucial in promoting collaboration, tearing down barriers, and fostering mutual understanding on a global scale.
Speaking of students, let me extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates of the Global Business Journalism program this year. Today, we applaud your determination, resilience and intellectual curiosity that have led you to this significant milestone. Each of you is a shining example of what it means to be a global citizen from diverse backgrounds, cultures and perspectives. You have enriched our classrooms, sparked meaningful discussions and formed lifeling friendships.
Within this remarkable cohort, we have 11 exceptional international graduates and nine Chinese graduates who have risen above challenges and excelled in their academic pursuits. To each of you, I offer my warmest congratulations. Your journey has been one of growth, both academic and personally, and I am confident that you are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a lasting impact in the field of journalism.
I would also like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the distinguished visiting scholars who have played a crucial role in shaping the Global Business Journalism program. To Professor Lee Miller and [Co-Director] Rick Dunham, who have been steaddfast supporters and educators, thank you for your unwavering commitment to our students' success. Your expertise and guidance have been invaluable, and we are fortunate to have had you as part of our program for so many years. Professors Jacob Haselkorn and Ken Moritsugu, your arrivals bring fresh perspectives and invaluable industry knowledge, enriching the educational experience for our students.
In closing, I want to reiterate my heartfelt congratulations to the graduates of the Global Business Journalism program.
